Kinasya Craven
Kinasya Craven is part of Skylight’s Kids & Teens team. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and has a passion for people and considers it a great privilege to serve her community by addressing the mental health needs of individuals from all walks of life. Kinasya believes that meeting people where they are in life, whether it be on a mountaintop or in a valley, is the key to forming genuine connections and creating real and lasting change. Navigating the twists and turns of life can be very challenging, especially for children, adolescents, and families. This is why Kinasya is committed to helping others explore and uncover hidden strengths and to learn new skills that will allow them to cope and deal with the challenges that arise in life.
Kinasya specializes in stress management, depression, anxiety, anger management, trauma, grief and loss, PTSD, LGBTQ+, self-esteem building, difficult life transitions, adjustment issues, peer pressure, divorce, school issues, and interpersonal relationships.
Kinasya graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Troy University. After completing graduate school, she gained experience working in various outpatient, inpatient, residential, and school settings. In addition, she has experience facilitating groups for women struggling with substance use and social skills groups for children and adolescents. Within her therapy sessions, she applies numerous techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy, person-centered therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy based on the individual needs of her clients.
Outside of counseling, she enjoys spending time with her family, learning about new things, traveling, exploring nature with her husband, and drinking coffee.
