Alyssa Buchanan

Alyssa Buchanan is the owner of Skylight Counseling Services.  Alyssa is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in providing professional psychotherapy services, loving care and guidance to children, teenagers, families and individuals. Alyssa has over fifteen years of experience helping children and adults find their inner strengths to overcome life’s burdens and challenges. Her passion is her clients, empowering them to make positive, healthy decisions while walking beside them throughout their journey. Alyssa’s years of experience in helping children, families and individuals through unimaginable challenges solidified her passion for those she works with. Alyssa strives to create a safe environment where trust is built through honesty, respect and professionalism.

Alyssa has spent time working in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, with foster and adoptive families, in school systems with children, caregivers, teachers and administrators.  Since moving to Florida in 2013, Alyssa has focused her work on helping individuals overcome traumatic experiences and cope with a variety of different diagnosis such as PTSD, anxiety and depression.   In 2017, Alyssa opened Skylight Counseling Services where she invests her time in facilitating an environment where clients and families feel heard, empowered and comfortable working with their clinician toward their overall healing and growth.

When not at Skylight, Alyssa enjoys volunteering with Community of Hope, running, reading, coffee, and traveling.

Alyssa maintains a small caseload of clients and is also available to answer any questions you may have about your clinician or experience at Skylight.

Alyssa is currently accepting registered clinical social work interns for supervision.
