Alyssa Buchanan is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in providing professional psychotherapy services, loving care and guidance to children, teenagers, families and individuals. Alyssa has over ten years of experience helping children and adults find their inner strengths to overcome life’s burdens and challenges. Her passion is her clients, empowering them to make positive, healthy decisions while walking beside them throughout their journey. Alyssa’s years of experience in helping children, families and individuals through unimaginable challenges solidified her passion for those she works with. Alyssa strives to create a safe environment where trust is built through honesty, respect and professionalism.
Alyssa has spent time working in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems, with foster and adoptive families, in school systems with children, teachers and administrators and with caregivers as a parenting coach. Since moving to Florida in 2013, Alyssa has focused her work on helping children and teenagers overcome trauma and cope with a variety of different diagnosis such as ADHD, trauma, anxiety and depression. Alyssa also provides parent coaching for parents, step-parents and grandparents to strengthen bonds that will empower the entire family unit to build healthy child-parent relationships. Along with children and parents, Alyssa also works with individuals struggling to overcome life’s challenges.
When not at Skylight, Alyssa enjoys volunteering with Community of Hope, running and exercising, reading, coffee, traveling, and spending time with her husband, son, and their pets. Alyssa enjoys the opportunity to empower others and would be honored to work with you.

Taco Bill, or as most call him “Taco”, is our therapy dog. Taco comes to us from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Paws & Stripes College. Taco has found his forever home at Skylight Counseling, loving on anybody who will let him.
