Karen is passionate about helping young people thrive. She likes to challenge her clients to find their inner strength, as this creates a lasting healing effect. Karen engages her clients with creative interactions to reduce stress, improve self- esteem, challenge negative thoughts and emotions and help them develop effective coping skills. Karen uses a variety of integrated treatment approaches including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, relaxation, and other creative therapy techniques. She builds a working relationship that best meets her client’s goals. Karen works with children as young as 3, teenagers and young adults.
Karen is a licensed clinical social worker who has been working in the Mental Health field since 2006, primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults. Karen has a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Psychology (Honors) and a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Concentration in Mental Health from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. Karen has over 12 years of experience. Karen is working towards becoming a Registered Play Therapist and has 150 hours of Play Therapy Training.
