Michelle is a licensed mental health counselor specializing in working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Michelle completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences and went on to complete her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling in New Hampshire graduating with honors. Concurrent with her master’s degree, Michelle obtained additional specialized certification in Multicultural Counseling.
While obtaining her master’s degree, Michelle also gained significant work experience working with the disabled population. Michelle initially worked with teenage girls involved in the foster care system of Florida. The focus was primarily on addressing trauma histories, depression and anxiety symptoms and behavioral and conduct concerns.
Following this work, Michelle spent several years working at domestic violence shelter in Saint Thomas, USVI. Here, she worked extensively with women and children experiencing domestic abuse, as well as with other victims of crime, as per The Violence Against Women Act and The Victims of Crime Act.
Upon returning to Florida, Michelle obtained her licensure in Mental Health Counseling and obtained further training in trauma therapy; specifically, Cognitive Behavioral-Trauma Based Therapy. Michelle has since worked with children and families in Florida. Michelle is also certified to provide licensure supervision to new counselors entering the field.
Michelle has been practicing in the community with youth of all ages and families from a variety of backgrounds, with specific experience counseling women and children, for a total of nineteen years.
